Is Your Business Green?

July 3, 2008 · Print This Article

The growing trend or change of lifestyle today is “going green”. There is “enviromentally friendly” household cleaning products, vehicles, and clothing. I believe online businesses have been “green” for a long time before it became so well known.

Here are some ways that online businesses help with the “going green” movement:

1. They don’t drive to and from work/home/daycare.
2. They control what and how much to print.
3. Utilize a virtual assistant instead of an “in house” assistant.

Are there anymore ways that an online business can help the enviroment?

    Hi Stephanie!

Yes, I’m much more green living now.

I gave up my car a year ago and only use public transit, or walk, and occasional taxi.

Just thought of a big one for me… I don’t need to dress up as much - so I am not purchasing all those shoes and outfits that I used to, I just live more simply than before.

I’m saving on over-consumption of paper and office supplies too.

I try to make my business and life as green as possible. My customers can order online or by phone rather than request a paper mail order catalog plus I provide them with a lot of electronic information via email, web sites and pdf files. The company I work with not only offers consumers natural and organic products it’s also moving towards “running a green business,” we even have our checks/cheques deposited electronically. Saves paper and me having to waste fuel driving to the bank since I pay my bills online as well! Off the top of my head those are a few more green ideas for you.

Got something to say?
