Debunk the Entrepreneurial Myth

Being your own boss is freeing, but not when you have the mindset of thinking you have to control every business related task by yourself. Outsourcing or delegating, as little as 5 hours of business marketing per month, can free up your schedule and keep you on your path of success.

If you have found yourself stuck in a marketing rut, then its time to start delegating some of those business marketing tasks. Remember, being in business for yourself doesn’t mean you have to be in business BY yourself.

Grow Your Business by Speaking

You already know that outsourcing to a virtual assistant can grow you business, but did you know she can also research speaking opportunities for you? If you are looking for speaking opportunities, be specific about your needs and wants.

  1. Do you want only online speaking opportunities?
  2. Or would you like offline speaking opportunities?
  3. Mix it Up! How about dividing up both types of speaking opportunities by picking the best months for you to travel (think Winter versus Summer months)
  4. Be specific about your topic. Don’t just assume that your virtual assistant will know what it is you’re wanting to speak about.
  5. Share! What has and has not worked about previous speaking opportunities. Don’t be ashamed  to share with your virtual assistant about any “not-so-wonderful” speaking opportunities that may have taken place, she may be able to take this information and use it to your benefit.

All in all, by outsourcing the research for your next speaking opportunity you will be able to focus your time other tasks that only you can do (such as networking).

P.S.

You can also have your virtual assistant transcribe your past and future interviews!

They all outsource something, every day, on a daily basis.

You don’t think they do every business task or daily living task themselves, do you?

I bet the outsourcing list would look like this:

  • Dog Walking

  • PR professional
  • Personal Shopper

Outsource Your Article Marketing?

Article marketing is a great way to share your expertise, educate your readers and bring in some search engine love.  The problem with article marketing is that it takes time. If you’re already over-booked, the last thing you want to do is add another task to your schedule, which means you’re either going to chose not to market your business with articles or you’re going to outsource the task.

If you chose to outsource your article marketing then you want to be sure to have all of your information gathered so you can forward it to your marketing assistant. (Don’t worry if your article marketing information is not organized, you can ask your VA to allocate some of the time purchased to organize your information.)

Gathered information may include:

  • articles written that aren’t submitted
  • articles that have been submitted
  • current article directories that you use
  • preferred article directories that you want to submit
  • username and passwords associated with your article directory accounts
  • your bio in plain text and html
  • your choice of email and password for new directory accounts

When you first begin to outsource your article marketing, you may want to meet with your virtual marketing assistant via phone (or Skype). Doing this will allow you both to ask and answer questions in real time, without having to play email tag.

Article Marketing? Duplicate Content Fears

Article marketing is a great way to get your website seen by the search engines and by your target market, but there is a fear that seems to be going around. Its the fear that centers around “duplicate content” and being penalized by google.

It seems that business owners worry that if they submit the same article to many directories, that google would see that as duplicate content and some how, penalize them for this.  There’s a post by Lynn Terry of  ClickNewz.com where she has outlined what google sees as duplicate content.

You can also visit Google.com and learn directly from them what they view as duplicate content, you’ll soon see that article marketing is still a tried and true way to bring in the search results you need,  help build incoming links to your website, and educate your target market about your business.

Enjoy your day and if you’re looking to outsource your article and/or press release submissions please contact me today!

Thanks!

Outsourcing? Pros and Cons

Hey! What is your opinion about outsourcing? Is it hurting the economy? Will it help the economy? What’s your take?

Me, personally…I think it will help the economy by allowing those who can not otherwise work out of the home (hope this makes sense). Doesn’t outsourcing open the door for home-bound individuals, small business owners who can not afford (or need) staffers?

Come on, let me know what your thoughts are on this subject!

Thanks!

Steph

Marketing: The 3 “G’s”

Marketing your business and/or products can be a time consuming task since you know you’re supposed to constantly be in the ‘marketing’ mode…right? So here’s some tips to help you remember:

1. Give Up! Trying to run your business by yourself isn’t a great idea. Since you’re only one person how can you possibly research and schedule interviews, submit your articles and press releases, respond to emails, and take care of your family and still grow your business? That’s why it’s time to ‘give up’ some of that responsibility and outsource it to a virtual assistant.

2. Get Out! In order to grow your business you’ll not only need to outsource some tasks but you’ll actually have to ‘get out’ of your office and meet other people face-to-face! Yes, online social networking works, but it doesn’t replace physical networking such as conferences, chamber meetings or expo’s.

3. Get Noticed! I’m pretty sure if you ‘give up’ and ‘get out’ you’re going to ‘get noticed’. If you are outsourcing to a virtual assistant then that means that your business related tasks are being handled while you’re out networking in physical locations with real people building real relationships and that means you’ll ‘get noticed’.

If you’re looking to get the 3 G’s going in your business please contact me today to schedule your free 30 minute phone consulation.

Virtual Assistant:Article Marketing Tips

Articles Submissions+Weekly Basis+Customers=Success

O.k. I can hear you saying “Steph, come on..how is weekly article submissions going to get me customers?” Well, I’m here to tell you that the correctly written article, submitted on a (no less than) weekly basis can help you get seen (and noticed) by your target market, resulting in successful sales for your business.

Articles are like blood types; they come in positive and negative.

1. Negative: if your article is poorly written, bad grammar, incorrect
information, misleading or promotional.

2. Positive: written correctly, no grammatical  mistakes, correct information,
educational.

All of your articles should be written to educate your target market by telling them how your product/service can make their lives better or why your service is something they need. By educating your target market on the benefits of your product/service, your more apt to gaining their trust that you’ll provide what they need.

A great way to find new topics to write about is by doing your online research: find out where your target market shops, searches for (keywords/keyword phrases), likes and dislikes, ect.  This is the reason why your research needs to come first! This is one reason why you have to have a focused business before marketing your business, otherwise, you’ll waste a lot of time and money. Remember, you can always outsource these tasks if you don’t have time to do them on your own or if you’d rather not do them on your own.

Well, if you decide not to write your own articles for whatever reason you have 2 choices:

1. Ghost Writer- This is a more expensive option in which you hire/contract with a professional writer to write exclusive articles that you are for your use only.

2. PLR (private label rights) Articles- These are articles written by professional writers, that give you the right to rewrite them anyway you want, the distribute them to your readers, blog, newsletter and website. These are both great options to help you get the content you to educate your target market and help you in your quest for better SEO results! (I’ve listed my affiliate link for EasyPLR.com for your convienence.)

Remember, your virtual assistant is willing and able to help you succeed in your business and is most likely a great source to go to for help with your marketing efforts.
