Ouch! My Stretching Business

We see all kinds of products for stretch mark removal, in the physical realm, but what about the business realm? Did you know your business has stretch marks? Maybe this isnt’ a real pretty picture to paint, but it gets the point across.

Stretch marks show growth and if your business is growing there should be proof. What steps are you taking to insure that your business is growing?Think back to the first year in your business, you didn’t really have any task to outsource. You probably didn’t have a need for a bookkeeper or an accountant. Now think to your second year in business; you feel the “time crunch” on certain tasks, you can’t keep up with your own record keeping, you don’t have time to write your own articles anymore let alone submit those articles to all of the submission directories.

Now you’re into your third year of business, you find that you really need help and NOW! But where do go to find help? What do you begin to outsource?

Besides doing your basic internet research for “virtual assistant” or “virtual assistance”, why not ask fellow entrepreneurs and online business owners for their recommendations. You can visit virtual assistant forums and see what virtual assistants are frequenting the board.

Day 10: Let’s Recap Your Article Marketing “Why”

Congratulations! You made it to: Day # 10 of a 10 day series entitled :

“10 Reasons to Market Your Business with Articles”

Outsourcing (delegating) a minimum of 5 hours of article marketing per month can benefit your business.  Perhaps if you have a better understanding behind the “why” you should be marketing your business with articles, then this task will never see the end of your to-do list again.

Day 10:  Recap Your Article Marketing “Why”

On Your WayIn the previous 9 days you’ve learned some very powerful “why’s” of article marketing and how it plays an important role in your business. So let’s recap what you’ve read:

  1. You build relationships with potential clients you may not have otherwise met.
  2. You use your article marketing to build trust wit h your readers.
  3. You become known as the “expert” in your chosen field.
  4. You generate publicity.
  5. You gain pre-qualified website traffic.
  6. You feed your “content hungry” target market.
  7. You have the potential to be seen by thousands of people in your target market.
  8. Article marketing allows you to pre-sell your products or services.
  9. You market your business without having to meet face-to-face.
  10. You reap the benefits of continual web traffic for years to come.

My hope was to inform and educate you, the professional business owner, on how powerful article marketing can be for your business. If you market your business on a consistent basis, perhaps as little as 5 hours per month, you should reap the benefits for years to come.

Day 8: Pre-Sell Your Services or Products

Today is Day # 8 of a 10 day series entitled :

“10 Reasons to Market Your Business with Articles”

Outsourcing (delegating) a minimum of 5 hours of article marketing per month can benefit your business.  Perhaps if you have a better understanding behind the “why” you should be marketing your business with articles, then this task will never see the end of your to-do list again.

Day 8: Pre-Sell Your Services or Products

faceArticle marketing allows you to pre-sell your products or services. You don’t even have to meet face-to-face in order to sell your business. By article marketing on a consistent basis, your message will be read by your potential clients. Those potential clients then follow the link in your resource box, come to your website and hopefully sign-up for your mailing list. Maybe they will also contact you for more information about your product or service and want to place an order. You never know who is going to pick-up your article!

Day 5: I Need Leads?

Today is Day #5 of a 10 day series entitled :

“10 Reasons to Market Your Business with Articles”

Outsourcing (delegating) a minimum of 5 hours of article marketing per month can benefit your business.  Perhaps if you have a better understanding behind the “why” you should be marketing your business with articles, then this task will never see the end of your to-do list again.

Day 5: I Need Leads?

quality leadsArticle marketing can bring you leads of quality that are relevant to your specific business needs. Perhaps a potential JV (joint venture) relationship can be started simply by having the right person read one of your articles. This is another reason why you need to have a specific call-to-action in your “Author Bio Box” (a.k.a. resource box).  Don’t be afraid to send your readers to a different page than your home page. You can invite your reader to visit any page of your website. Be creative!

Virtual Internet Marketing Assistant for New Online Business Owners~

Do You Have 30 Seconds?

Easy Question?

The BIG Question

Before I even opened my virtual assistance business I heard other business owners talk about ‘elevator speeches’, I honestly didn’t think much of it..that is until this past month when I had some local business owners ask me what it is I do from home, exactly.  I told them I was a” virtual assistant servicing small and home-based businesses with their online business needs”, in return I received some blank stares and a quick ‘oh, that’s interesting.’  Needless to say, I completely failed the ‘elevator speech’ guidelines!

Enter challenge!!

Do you have a 30 second ‘speech’ memorized for potential customers/clients? It sounds like an easy question, but once you think you have it down and then repeat it out loud, what does it sound like? What is the reaction of your potential customer?

I’ve done that for my virtual assistant business over the past month and it just doesn’t sound right. It doesn’t sound natural. So my challenge this week, for you and myself, is to get your 30 second speech down without a hitch.
So the next time someone asks you ‘what do you do from home’ you can give them an intelligent answer that catches their attention and gets them to ask more questions about your business.

Good Luck!

Target Market: Getting Back to the Basics

Target Market?

Target Market?

Are you stuck for new marketing ideas for your handmade product? Let’s go back to the basics of your target market:

  • When you’re crafting your product, who do you envision using it?
  • What age is your product geared towards?
  • Is it for men, women, children, teens, tweens, sports fan, casual dresser, professional, traveler, photographer?
  • Is your product for the frugally minded or the no-budget necessary, type of person?

Let’s say your product is a handmade, custom designed watch. You might think that “all mom’s” could use this fantastic watch, but that may not be the case at all. Even though your custom made watch is beautiful and useful to women, a mom that stays home with kids all day and works in the garden, may not want to or care to have, a custom watch. However, a mom that runs a business from home and networks locally with other businesses may indeed want that custom made watch.

One thing I do on a regular basis is envision my target market and picture them actually outsourcing their small business tasks to me. I go as far as including their age, their customers, and what hobbies they enjoy! Just remember, you may have a great product, but it can’t be everything to everyone (this rings true to service providers as well).

As an American we have the privilege and freedom to choose whether or not to work from home. Many home-based business owners sell hand crafted items, such as purses, dolls, toys and baby slings, as a means of bringing income into their families. However, according to the CPSIA law that was passed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there will be millions of home-based businesses that will be forced to close. The effects of this law will increase our need for government help and place an unnecessary strain our economy.

Whether you’re a consumer or a crafter you are invited to take a stand on this issue by joining us by blogging about this issue on Wednesday January 28, 2009 and also by writing to your local congressman. The Power of Two!

Have you heard of Joint Venture (a.k.a JV)? If not here is a brief description:
a business enterprise in which two or more companies enter a temporary partnership. Abbreviation: JV, J.V. (source cited below)

Joint Ventures can take on different forms such as creating and publishing e-books, create contests and even hold online seminars, as well as other partnership opportunities.

Now on to my story…about 2 weeks ago Kelly McCausey posted a “Barter To Success” blog post inviting business owners to barter their goods or/and services. So I jumped in with both feet and sought after an experienced freelance writer.

That’s where I found Teresa Hall owner of Write About Everything, so far our relationship has worked well. Here is her take on the new found relationship on her blog post

Feeling The Holiday Stress Already?

The recent snow flurries reminded me that winter is upon us and that means added stress, particularly due to the fact that the Holidays are right around the corner. Can you believe that November 1 means that Christmas is only 8 Saturdays away!

When I start to count down the weeks until Christmas I start to feel over-whelmed and that can cause anyone to get lost in the chaos and loose focus of their business goals.

Right around this time of year, business owners start to take on added stress. They may have to deal with the stress of meeting end-of-the-year deadlines, clients and customers added demands (after all, they are feeling the stress from their clients and customers) and  not to forget, the stress of pre-planning for the upcoming new year!

Whew!  That’s enough stress to throw even the most calm business owner into a tizzy! By outsourcing just one task, such as article marketing, you can save yourself up to 10 hours in one months time. Just think what you could do with those “unspoken” for 10 hours?
